Meet the Artist
Amel is an abstract contemporary artist whose work explores the profound connections between movement, resilience, and transformation. Her recent collection, 2425, draws inspiration from the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, reflecting themes of darkness, hope, and humanity. Through fluid forms, bold shapes, and layered textures, her paintings evoke motion and depth, inviting viewers to reflect on the complexities of human experience.
Based in Britain, Germany and Tunisia, with a distinctly global perspective shaped by her nomadic lifestyle, Amel’s art reflects the influences of a life lived and worked across all continents. This global lens blends seamlessly with her Mediterranean heritage, creating a body of work that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.Amel’s artistic journey began with her early life as a dancer at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Danse de Tunis, where she developed a deep connection to rhythm and movement. This foundation informs her visual art, where the physical and emotional meet to create dynamic, evocative compositions. Her mindfulness and spirituality practices further enrich her work, imbuing it with a sense of balance, introspection, and connection.
Primarily working with acrylics and watercolours, Amel has recently rediscovered the delicacy of watercolour while beginning to experiment with oils. Her approach balances vibrant colour palettes with bold, expressive forms, capturing the interplay of chaos and harmony. Though she began painting since university, she considers herself an emerging artist, having found her true artistic voice in 2021.
Artist Statement
My work explores the emotional terrain of movement, resilience, and transformation—what it means to live through rupture and still find form. Influenced by my background as a dancer, I use bold shapes and fluid textures to evoke motion and energy. Colour becomes a tool of contrast—light against shadow, tension against release—mirroring the push and pull of inner experience.
My recent collection, 2425, was born out of personal and global grief: the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, and a series of personal health crises. These paintings are not literal responses, but intuitive renderings of fragility, loss, and the flicker of resilience. Some came through me in silence, others in states of physical weakness or spiritual stillness. All carry the imprint of a world struggling to hold itself together.
My nomadic life across Tunisia, Germany, and Britain shapes a perspective that is both rooted and borderless. I work primarily in acrylics and watercolours—mediums that allow me to explore the tension between precision and spontaneity—and have recently begun experimenting with oils. My process is also shaped by mindfulness and spirituality, inviting stillness into each layer.
At its core, my practice is a search: for meaning, for motion, and for moments of human connection. I believe art can hold the unspeakable—and sometimes, help us name it.
